A new study, conducted by two Forensics and National Security Sciences Institute (FNSSI) researchers, uses Probabilistic Assessment for Contributor Estimation (PACE) to better assess DNA mixtures of two or more individuals. This machine-learning based assessment technique can be used to estimate the number of contributors in a DNA mixture and then convey the results probabilistically.
